80’s Gold hits Newton Abbot Racecourse

Relive the music of the 80s on Sunday 14 August 2016

Following on from the huge success of this summer's Boyzone concert at Newton Abbot Racecourse, the venue is set once again to deliver an amazing night of music, fun and nostalgia.

Newton Abbot Racecourse will play host on 14 August 2016 to a star studded collection of pop's best loved stars from the 1980s who will be performing their greatest hits and more! 80's Gold will feature performances from Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), ABC, Bananarama and Midge Ure (Ultravox).

Patrick Masterson, Managing Director at Newton Abbot Racecourse, said: "Last year's Boyzone concert was such a success and we received so much great feedback about music at the racecourse that we had to repeat the experience all over again next year. We're delighted to welcome not one but four amazing names for an evening reliving the best of the 1980s. It's going to be a great opportunity to get together with friends and family and get caught up in the magic of this fun and fabulous decade, here in the heart of Devon."

One of the concert's stars, Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet, says of the night: "I love coming to Devon and Newton Abbot Racecourse is a particularly great place to play. I will be performing some very popular songs so do come and join me, ABC, Banarama and Midge Ure as it's going to be a fabulous night."

Show producer Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE from LHG Live commented: "Newton Abbott is a great venue for staging concerts and we had an amazing time here with Boyzone earlier this summer. Next year we'll be bringing a night full of 80's classic artists including Tony Hadley who is still so strong 30 years on, with a new album out now! Expect an amazing night out and given this year's response, getting tickets early is a must!"

These artists continue to delight audiences and release music. Tony is currently in the Australian jungle, battling it out to win this year's I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! November also sees the release of his new Christmas album. ABC has just toured the 'Lexicon Of Love' album which was played in its entirety by the Southbank Sinfonia Orchestra. Bananarama are also off to Australia but not to the jungle! They are to tour Australia in February 2016. Midge Ure has also just released his new album 'Breathe Again' and completed a UK Indoor Tour. So we are very much looking forward to them all bringing their talent and songs to Newton Abbot!

The 1980s are renowned for a number of different music genres, from the decadent New Romantic movement to the vibrant synthesiser pop scene and the line-up at Newton Abbot reflects this eclectic mix.

80's Gold is a fantastic opportunity to meet up and have fun with friends, reminiscing over and joining in with some of the great hits of the decade as well as music from local bands, all in the unique setting of Newton Abbot Racecourse.
